Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about joining and using Vivaham.

Joining

How much does Vivaham cost?

Vivaham is free at launch. If we ever add paid features, we will say so clearly before anyone pays, and they will always be charges for using the service only.

Who can join?

Vivaham is for members of a tribe that is listed as a Scheduled Tribe (ST) in at least one state of India — even if you now live in a state where your tribe is not listed. Your faith never matters: whatever your faith or religion, you are welcome.

The bride or groom must be currently unmarried — never married, divorced, widowed or legally separated — and of legal age to marry: 21 or older for men, 18 or older for women.

Can I join if I am divorced or widowed?

Yes. Remarriage is fully welcome on Vivaham. You can choose “divorced (court)”, “separated or divorced by community or panchayat”, or “widowed”.

Can a parent create the profile?

Yes. A parent, sibling or other relative can start the profile. But it belongs to the bride or groom, and it is only shown to others after they verify their own mobile number, give their own consent and upload an ID. See For families.

Which ID can I upload?

Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving licence, or ST/caste certificate. It is used to check the name and date of birth, and it is never shown to anyone. See Safety & verification.

Which languages can I use?

Vivaham is in English and Hindi. You can choose Hindi when you sign up, and change the language any time in your profile settings.

Profiles and matching

Why are there no horoscope or caste questions?

Vivaham is built for tribal communities, so we ask about what matters in your community — tribe, clan, clan group, mother’s clan and village — and not about caste, sub-caste or horoscopes (kundali).

What if I don’t know my clan or clan group?

Choose “I don’t know — my family will add it”. A family member can fill it in later.

How do community filters work?

By default you see people from the same tribe and not from the same clan. Your family can change these and other filters. Filters work both ways. See Community rules.

Can I marry outside my tribe?

That is your family’s choice. Switch off “same tribe only” to see members from other tribes who are also open to it.

Privacy

Who can see my profile?

Only verified Vivaham members whose filters match yours — and whose profiles pass your filters. Nothing about you is shown on this website or to anyone who is not logged in. You choose who can see your photos (everyone verified, blurred until an interest is accepted, or hidden), and whether your faith, income and current location are shown.

Can my family read my private chat?

No. The private chat between the bride and groom opens only if both turn it on, and family members cannot read it. The family group chat is shared by both families.

When is my phone number shared?

Only when both sides choose to share contact details, after an interest is accepted. Phone numbers are never shown on profiles.

Do you sell my data or show ads?

No. We do not sell your data, and there are no advertisements on Vivaham. Read our Privacy policy.

Your account

Can I pause my profile?

Yes. The bride or groom can pause (snooze) the profile, and it will be hidden until they turn it back on. A profile with no activity for 3 months is hidden automatically; we send a reminder after 2 months.

How do I delete my account?

The bride or groom can permanently delete their profile from the profile settings. This deletes the profile and its data, including ID documents. Messages they wrote are replaced with “message deleted”, and notes about them held by their own family are removed. Only the bride or groom can delete their profile.

Something went wrong. Who can I talk to?

Write to us on the Contact page. For complaints, you can write to our Grievance Officer.
