Vivaham works the way marriages are already arranged in many tribal communities: families take part, community rules are respected, and the young people decide. We add verification, consent and safety on top.
1. Sign up with your own mobile number
Anyone in the family can start — the young person, or a parent, sibling or other relative. Everyone signs up with their own mobile number and a one-time code (OTP). There are no shared passwords.
Vivaham is only for members of a tribe that is listed as a Scheduled Tribe (ST) in at least one state of India. Where you live now, and your faith, make no difference.
2. Create a family account
Your family account is your family’s home on Vivaham. It can hold profiles for more than one son or daughter, and up to 8 family members can join it, each with their own login. Read more in For families.
3. The profile belongs to the bride or groom
Even if a parent starts the profile, it belongs to the young person it is for. Before anyone can see it, the bride or groom must:
- verify their own mobile number with an OTP,
- give their consent on a simple tap-to-agree screen, and
- upload an ID document so we can check their name and date of birth.
A profile is never shown to anyone without the bride’s or groom’s own consent.
4. ID verification and the age rule
You can upload an Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving licence or ST/caste certificate. We check that the name and date of birth match the profile. The law sets the minimum age for marriage at 21 for men and 18 for women, and Vivaham does not allow profiles below that age — for anyone.
Your ID document is encrypted and never shown to anyone — not to other members, not to your own family, not to the other family. Others only see a “verified” badge. Read more in Safety & verification.
5. Fill in your profile, in your community’s words
Tell us your tribe, sub-group, clan and village, using the words your community uses. If you don’t know something, choose “I don’t know — my family will add it”. You can add photos (and choose who sees them) and record a short voice message about yourself.
There are no caste or horoscope questions, and no questions about money between families.
6. Search with community filters
Vivaham suggests a few well-matched profiles every day, and you can search. Matches follow your community’s usual practice: by default you see people from the same tribe and not from the same clan. Your family can change these filters. Read more in Community rules.
7. Interest, then the families talk
- Send an interest. The bride or groom sends it — or a family member, if the owner allows. The other family sees who sent it.
- The owner accepts. Only the bride or groom on the other side can accept. Their family can recommend yes or no.
- Family group chat. When an interest is accepted, a group chat opens for both families — text, voice notes and photos. Each family can see who is in the chat.
- Private chat. If both the bride and groom turn it on, they get a one-to-one chat. Family members cannot read it.
- Contact exchange. Phone numbers are shared only when both sides choose to.
Either side can end the conversation at any time.
8. When you are married
If you married someone you met on Vivaham, both of you can mark your profiles as married. If you both want to, you can share your story with other families on our Success stories page.
