Your family’s safety comes first. Some people misuse marriage — or the promise of a job — to trick young women and men into leaving home. Vivaham is built so that it cannot be used for this, and so that you know what to watch out for.

Who can join
- Vivaham is only for tribal communities: members of a tribe listed as a Scheduled Tribe (ST) in at least one state. Only verified members can see profiles. Nothing about any member is shown on this website.
- Age rule: by law, men must be at least 21 and women at least 18 to marry. Every profile’s date of birth is checked against an ID document before the profile can be seen. Nobody can create a profile for someone under this age.
- The bride or groom must verify their own mobile number and give their own consent. Every family member on the account must also verify their mobile number.
Your ID documents are never shown to anyone
- ID documents are encrypted and kept in separate, private storage used only for ID documents. They never have a public link.
- They are never shown to other members, to your own family members, or to the other family. Others only see a “verified” badge.
- For Aadhaar we accept only the masked Aadhaar from UIDAI, which hides the first 8 digits, and we never store your full Aadhaar number. A full Aadhaar uploaded by mistake is deleted as soon as our team reviews it.
- Only a small number of authorised staff can open a document, only when a check needs a person, and every time they do, it is recorded: who, when, which document and why.
- When you delete your account, your ID documents are deleted too.
Contact details stay private
Phone numbers are not shown on profiles. Families first talk inside Vivaham’s family group chat, and phone numbers are shared only when both sides choose to.
Warning signs
Be careful — and tell us — if someone:
- offers a job, money or travel (tickets, a stay in a city) before the families have properly met,
- wants to marry very quickly, or wants the bride or groom to travel far away alone,
- asks to move to a phone call or WhatsApp before an interest is accepted, or asks for your number early,
- says “no expenses for you, we will pay for everything”, or talks about money for the marriage before the families know each other,
- avoids meeting your family, or will not let you speak to their family,
- seems to be speaking for many brides or grooms, or acts like an agent,
- asks for photos, documents or bank details.
Never share your phone number, address, documents or bank details early. Meet the other family in person, with your own family present, before making any decision.
Vivaham’s systems also watch for these signs — for example, one account contacting many women, or talk of jobs, money or travel before an interest is accepted — and our safety team reviews them.
Block and report
- Block anyone from their profile or from a chat. They will no longer see you or be able to contact you.
- Report with one tap on a profile, a message or a chat. You can also record your report as a voice message. Reports from family group chats and private chats are reviewed by our safety team.
- You can also pause or hide your profile at any time, choose who sees your photos, and hide your family’s contact details.
If anyone is in danger, call 112 first. For anything that needs a person, write to our Grievance Officer.
What we never do
Vivaham does not promote or take part in bride price or dowry, in any form. There are no fields, filters or features for them anywhere on Vivaham.
